Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard surfaces

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his first trophy for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has had a difficult year, managing just one win at the major tournaments and suffering a meltdown at the New York tournament.

The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in particular - resulted in him falling of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.

Currently working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought competitive win over challenger Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's maiden trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court from March of that year.

Victory also signifies the Russian has secured twenty-one championships at twenty-one various events.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my both daughters at once, so to get a title is really nice," commented world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the first title I achieved when my child her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had lost his last six title deciders, featuring in that event earlier this year.

His defensive approach and recurring reactions on court had prompted commentators to question if his skill to compete at the highest level was finished.

Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to come to the net and compete positively, backed up by an better serving game.

He came back from a break down in the initial set against the tricky opponent, securing 4 of the final five points to go ahead.

Both players swapped break points in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour title, took control to push for a third set.

Moutet defended 4 initial opportunities in a tight deciding set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Appropriately, he secured the title with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to control a shot after over two and a half hours.
